Discover Hastings Sunrise (Vancouver East)

Hastings-Sunrise is located at the extreme northeast of Vancouver’s Eastside, on the waterfront. It’s right on Burnaby’s municipal boundary, meaning this neighbourhood is well-situated for residents wanting flexibility to access not only Vancouver, but Burnaby as well. Adding to that, the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge extends into North Vancouver, even allowing public transit access to the North Shore. However, Hastings-Sunrise is so much more than just a great starting point.

Hastings-Sunrise’s Cultural & Recreational Spaces

It’s impossible to ignore. The largest and most noticeable feature of this neighbourhood is Hastings Park, which acts as a complex of different attractions and recreational facilities. Chief among them is Playland at the PNE, an amusement park which is a summer staple. Other attractions include the Pacific Coliseum, Empire Field, Hastings Racecourse, the Agrodome, Opera Walk, Slidey Slides Park. If you’re looking for a more neighbourhood-like park for having a picnic or kicking a soccer ball around, then you have the option of Callister Park, Burrard View Park, New Brighton Park or Commissioner’s Park.

Living in Hastings Sunrise

For Hastings-Sunrise, shops and restaurants are mostly concentrated along Hastings Street at the neighbourhood’s southern boundary. Commercial enterprises are largely kept out of the blocks north of Hastings Street, allowing for a decidedly suburban experience in single-family and multi-family detached homes. Condos and townhouse developments can be found closer to Hastings Street. For parents, it's good to know there are schools in the neighbourhood covering the K-12 range. Such schools include:
