Killarney is a neighbourhood in Vancouver East with mostly single-family homes, but multi-unit residential developments of townhomes and condos are beginning to appear. Most of the neighbourhood has a suburban-esque feeling with many streets being lined with trees. It is interesting how the area has retained its family-friendly feeling.

Killarney Park is a centrally-located park in the neighbourhood. It hosts a wide variety of facilities and areas, including the Killarney Community Centre, Killarney Rink, Killarney Running Track, an off-leash dog park, softball field, playground and a gravel soccer field. Smaller neighbourhood parks like Tecumseh Park, Nanaimo or Gordon Park offer picnicking areas and playgrounds. The nearby Fraserview Golf Course (south of the neighbourhood) is an 18-hole public golf course with a two-tiered driving range.

Also nearby is the large Central Park in Burnaby, just across Boundary Road, which itself is a sprawling park complex with a network of forested trails, a pitch and putt course, public tennis courts and Swangard Stadium.
