Main Street is a permanent fixture during the Vancouver Mural Festival in which dozens of artists paint murals in the area’s alleys. Another event is Car Free Day, an annual community event when a section of Main Street is closed to vehicle traffic and takes on a street party atmosphere. Along Main are many restaurants and cafes attracting foodies to trendy, local favourites and timeless establishments. Specialty shops adorn the main thoroughfare offering a treasure trove of exciting finds and unique gifts - perfect for a little retail therapy. 

Sports & Parks near Main

No list of amenities in this neighbourhood would be complete without due mention of Queen Elizabeth Park. Located west of Main, this sprawling park complex offers a pitch and putt, tennis and pickleball courts, disc golf course, botanical gardens, walking trails and a restaurant. Adding to the area’s bounty of leisure activities is nearby Hillcrest Community Centre which boasts sports fields, a pool and ice rink. Finally, Nat Bailey Stadium is home to the Vancouver Canadians Baseball Team, a Minor League team affiliated with the Toronto Bluejays. The opportunities for activities and events in Main is simply amazing.

Ease of movement in Main

Main is intersected by major arteries like King Edward Avenue, E 33rd Avenue and E 41st Avenue offering ease of movement via public transit. This can include a short trip to the nearby Canada Line SkyTrain which offers access to Downtown Vancouver, Richmond and Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Plus UBC students will be relieved to know many bus routes, including the R4 RapidBus, which transit through Main to the University of British Columbia.
