Discover Lower Lonsdale (North Vancouver)

Lower Lonsdale, also known as LoLo, in the City of North Vancouver refers to the area extending from the waterfront uphill to Victoria Park. Anchored by Lonsdale Avenue, this area contains many of North Vancouver’s best eateries and its trendiest cafes. Housing in this area is a mix of single-family detached homes, duplexes, townhomes and condos. Many housing developments have been springing up in recent years as this area continues to densify. 

Activities & Eats in Lower Lonsdale 

Lower Lonsdale is home to lots of restaurants and cafes, from Nemesis at the Polygon Gallery to Cream Pony in Fun Alley, to Lucky’s Doughnuts at the Parallel 49 cafe, there’s many places for those seeking adventurous eats to try. From coffee to Greek food to bakeries, there's something for every taste. There are also a variety of local multi-talented distilleries, breweries and a winery. For example, the innovative House of Funk offers two kinds of brews: beer, or coffee. It’s an area with a vibrant nightlife, particularly down at The Shipyards, which features a large public plaza used in the summer for night markets. Next to The Shipyards is Lonsdale Quay Market, an indoor market with restaurants and different vendors offering various wares on two levels, along with a hotel. Lonsdale Quay is a hub of sorts, especially since it is where many Translink bus lines intersect with the SeaBus linking North Vancouver to Downtown through a passenger ferry service.

Aside from parks offering playgrounds, benches and picnic areas, a major outdoor attraction is the North Shore Spirit Trail. Lonsdale is almost positioned at the midway point of this east-west pedestrian and cyclist trail connecting West Vancouver to the Deep Cove area of North Vancouver. In closer proximity, it’s a great trail for joggers and walkers with a paved path and very little change in elevation. For cyclists, it provides a nice alternative to bike lanes and can even connect up to the Lions Gate Bridge, allowing for a journey into Stanley Park.
