A small but accessible neighbourhood
The neighbourhood of South Cambie is generally considered one of the smallest neighbourhoods in Vancouver, both in size and in population. It is wedged between one of the city's largest parks, Queen Elizabeth Park, and the upscale neighbourhood of Shaughnessy. It is also known for its large cluster of medical facilities. South Cambie is also very close to the soon-to-be Oakridge Park, a cultural hub for all things shopping, eating, exercising, living and working.
Since the newly constructed Canada Line was built through the neighbourhood, South Cambie has come back to life with many eateries, boutiques and bars. It is also home to the Marine Gateway on the Canada Line. Marine Gateway is South Vancouver’s urban town centre at Cambie Street and SW Marine Drive. Featuring direct access to the Canada Line and bus transit, shops, services, residential living and offices, Marine Gateway is a vibrant hub at the heart of this emerging community.
You can find several elementary schools in South Cambie, including Emily Carr Elementary School and Edith Cavell Elementry schools. For families with older children, there is Eric Hamber Secondary School. South Cambie also has schools for French speaking students including the francophone school Rose-Des-Vents and École secondaire Jules-Verne
